Oyster BioBlitz

November 4, 2017 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Join us for a full moon citizen science Oyster BioBlitz at Pt. Pinole Regional Park in Richmond. Get ready to enjoy being a citizen scientist through simple observation and photo documentation. We’ll be measuring and counting oysters during the full moon low tide, together with The Watershed Project.

A BioBlitz is an event that focuses on finding and identifying as many species as possible in a specific area over a short period of time. This event is part of our project to BioBlitz the Wildcat Creek watershed from its headwaters at Lake Anza down to its end point at the Wildcat Marsh and Landfill Loop in Richmond from summer 2017 to Spring 2018. So please check out our other upcoming BioBlitzes.

Bring your HEADLAMP, camera, water to stay hydrated, snacks, your kids, and water shoes for getting your feet wet in the SF Bay. We’ll have some mud boots and the measuring tools needed tools.

We’ll be uploading photos to iNaturalist.org (aka iNat). Feel free to familiarize yourself beforehand. We will also do a short orientation to iNat in the first 15 minutes on BioBlitz day. We’ll gather at 8:30 to compare shots and an iNat load-your-photos party. Our observations will be added to the iNat project “Richmond CA Watershed
