Free, Clean Water Falls from Sky!

Rainwater Harvesting is a great way to provide yourself a local and secure water supply. Plants LOVE rainwater and thrive more than with potable water filled with chloramine and fluoride supplied by water agencies.

A basic rainwater harvesting calculation is that 1000 square feet of roof + 1” of rain = 550 gallons of harvestable water. Every home and garden would benefit from rainwater collection. This workshop will be a great introduction, with some serious hands on work.

Every home and garden would benefit from rainwater collection. This workshop will be a great introduction, with some serious hands-on work.

In this workshop, we’ll be:

  • learning what rainwater harvesting has to do with the water cycle, saving Mokelumne River water, and decreasing urban stormwater
  • building a pad for rainwater cistern
  • installing a first flush diverter
  • installing a water cistern
  • meeting others in your community to participate in a “water Wheel” – a membership-driven community water harvesting group

You can expect to get your hands dirty, and maybe even work up a sweat while gaining important knowledge for installing rainwater cisterns at your own home.
